The History Of The United States Podcast Episode 33: The French And Indian War Part 6

Well, shoot.  I’ve been radio silent for over a month.  But back to the wilds of North America and the war that led to the War of Independence.  In this episode, the tide definitely turns the British way.  New commanders come and go under Pitt, but the Annus Mirabilis of 1759 sets the cities of the British Empire all a flutter.  The French turn their attention to Europe, ultimately sealing the fate of their holdings, and citizens in North America.

  1. Thank you for another informative session. My amateur history interest has resulted in a diversion of my crime/detective novel writing and produced the historical fiction of CAPTAIN’S CROSS. Growing up in NW Pennsylvania, one of the many Boy Scout activities we experienced was a winter hike of the “Washington Trail” or at least a 20 mile section of it near Meadville. The memory remained and when my uncle retired from flying Jets and produced a family history detailing our French Huguenot roots, a seed was planted. CAPTAIN’S CROSS is a fictionalized surround of Major Washington’s trek to LeBoeuf, with generous literary license taken. Next? Our heroes take on Cataraqui in CAPTAIN’S SORTIE with Bradstreet, Soldiers, Indians, sailing ships and murder. Lots of fun. Keep up the effort, I’m learning a lot.
